Festival Night City
Simple firework simulator to play around and take beautiful screenshots. Click (or tap) to launch more fireworks and check each menu to change different settings.
The game was made for the OpenGameArt.org's Fall Game Jam 2024 with the theme 'Festival'.
For me, festivals are strongly associated with fireworks, and I've always loved city nighttime scenery, so I decided to create a simple firework simulator where you can play around with different settings and take beautiful screenshots.
Share your screenshots in the comments, I want to see all the beautiful compositions you'll come up with!
* Activate Full-screen mode for better immersion.
* You can download .exe version for Windows PC for better quality screenshots.
Warning!!!
Please increase the number of fireworks carefully on low-end devices. A large amount of particles may impact performance.
This is my first project shared publicly, and I'm still learning, so it might not be the most optimized way to make a game about particles with particles that produce more particles. =) I definitely want to improve my skills (studying Unity VFX Graph, DOTS) and maybe even expand this simulation in the future.
While making this game, I discovered that my favorite type of fireworks isn't actually called 'Trails', and that there are many different types with beautiful nature-inspired names: Chrysanthemum, Peony, Willow, Palm, etc.
The ones I made look most similar to Palms, so that's what I named them. Here are all of the shapes available in the game:

Looks great! Interface is pretty easy to use also.
Some sound effects when the fireworks pop might be fun.
The more distinct Spark shapes might look better if they were randomly rotated. It looks odd when they all come out at exactly the same rotation.
Great work!
Thanks!💜
I'm working on the sound update already, and the idea with the sparks rotation is really great! I will definitely try it out =)
